Reflective Narrative
This course was designed to prepare us for the rest of our time as Japanese or Spanish majors. As such, a wide variety of topics were covered by many different professors. There was a portion of the course in which we learned more about the resources the library offers and how to use them effectively. Other classes focused on culture, linguistics, and literature. Within several different classes, various career areas available to Japanese and Spanish majors were presented to us. We met previous Spanish and Japanese majors from CSUMB and learned about their careers and how they moved into them, visited a graduate school, and learned about specific career areas within fields such as linguistics. There was also a class dedicated to discussing the steps needed to apply to graduation lead by a CSUMB graduation counselor. Throughout the course we also began or continued to build our ePortfolios. The ePortfolio holds all of our evidence that we have completed the Major Learning Outcomes in our major and evidence of the work we have completed. It basically covers our careers at CSUMB as Japanese or Spanish majors.
From this course I gained a lot of knowledge about research methods, how to graduate, how to properly build the ePortfolio, and the expectations of Japanese majors. In the future, I'd like to continue to improve my research abilities and learn more about potential careers and opportunities related to the Japanese major. In order to do this I will continue to work on my ePortfolio to record my progress and research career opportunities.
