WLC 400: WLC Major Capstone
Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also assemble a Graduation Portfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese, Spanish and World Languages and Cultures majors.

Reflective Narrative
This course was focused entirely on the completion of my Japanese Major Capstone to a high degree of quality. It continued the work I had begun and built upon the things I had learned in both WLC 300, the Major Proseminar course, and JAPN 403, the PreCapstone course. For example, in both WLC 300 and JAPN 403 we were visited by the librarian in charge of research for World Languages and Cultures to teach us about how to properly do research using both library and other resources; in WLC 400 the librarian came once again to further our knowledge on how to research and prepare a capstone. To this end, we learned a lot about how to brainstorm and how to use new resources, like an online brainstorming site called coggle. In this course, using our knowledge gained, we completed analyzing the resources we had gathered in PreCapstone and created our full capstone projects. We also received instruction on how to properly build an informative and easily understandable PowerPoint for our capstones.
My partner and I were able to use what we learned and the resources available in this course to complete our Capstone to our satisfaction, which you can see here. This course also guided us through the completion of our ePortfolio websites, though my ePortfolio will be fully complete Fall 2016, when I will graduate. I learned a lot about doing research this semester, and I know I will learn from the mistakes I made when I do research or other large projects in the future.
My goal through this class has been to make the best capstone I could possibly make and to learn as much as I could from the process, as I would like to enter graduate school in the future. I think I've done very well in achieving this goal, and in the future will take this experience and use it to help me enter and complete graduate school.
